ルワンダ3日目 The 3rd day in Rwanda 今日は終日雨 Today was rainy day. キガリから4時間かけてムランビ虐殺記念館へ（※外観だけでも写真撮ればよかった） We took a bus for four hours to go to the Murambi genocide memorial center. 1994年、ルワンダ全土で虐殺が起きたため国内には8つの虐殺記念館がある In 1994, the genocide was occured through out the county and there are eight genocide museums in Rwanda. その中でもムランビでは遺体の保存研究が行われているとのことで One in Murambi has many dead bodies for the research of conservation of the bodies.  地中深くに埋葬された遺体は酸素と触れ合うことなく The bodies which were buried in deeper depth couldn't react with oxgen 腐敗しなかったものが 掘り起こされて展示されている and didin't decompose for awhile and digged them up to display. かなり衝撃的でインパクトの強く I was very shocked and it has a very strong impact. じっくりと目も当てられませんでした I couldn't take a closer look. 覚悟して見れる方はgoogleの画像検索へ（ Google Search "Murambi genocide memorial" ） Since I didin't take any pictures, go to Google to see some pictures if you're ready. 虐待の歴史なしにはルワンダは語れないと連れてきてくれて My friend t...

ルワンダ2日目 The 2nd day in Rwanda 友人はセミナーに参加するがあったので、私はひとりでキガリ観光 I went out alone since my frind had a seminar today. 首都を走っているタクシーにはメーターがついているので安心 In taxi in Kigali, there are taximeter and no need to negociate the price.  また、ルワンダ人は政府の教育方針からルワンダ語・フランス語・英語を And Rwandan can speak three languages such as Kinyarwanda, French, and English. 話すことができるのでどの国の人も観光にもしくは生活に困ることはない Foreigners can easily communicate by using any other languages. まずはルワンダの歴史を知るために虐殺記念館へ First, to know the history in Rwanda I went to the genocide museum in Kigali. 1994年に起きた悲劇 The tragedy which had happened in 1994. 日本にいるときはあまり詳しいことは知らなかった I didn't know well about the genocide in Rwanda before. 始まりはベルギーの植民地時代までさかのぼること、 The beginning of genocide has been started from the colonial period by Belgium. 虐殺の最中フランスが関与していたこと、 During genocide, Frence got involved in. 虐殺後は 少数派民族が家族を殺した加害者を許し、 After the genocide, t he minority group forgave the other majority group who kill...

ケニア最終日・ルワンダ1日目 The last day in Kenya and the 1st day in Rwanda 今日も奥さんのパンケーキが食べれて嬉しい朝食 Today's breakfast was of cource ready on time and we had pancakes made by his wife. 午前中は研究所のラボを見学 In the morning we had a tour of the laboratory. JICAと某国立大学が絡んでいることもあって日本の機械がたくさん Japan International Cooperation Agency and the national Japanese University is involed to this institute. ここでケニア人たちが結果を出そうと一生懸命働いていることが嬉しい There are many Japanese equipments and I'm happy to see that Kenyan work hard in this lab. 研究所では研究者の実験を多くの労働者が手伝っている There are many workers who help the scientists. 労働者たちは理系の知識はないもののJICAの研修を受けた人たちで The workers didn't get any scientific education, but they had a training of JICA and 葉っぱや根っこの数を朝から晩まで数えてくれる help to coung the number of leaves and roots from the morning till afternoon. こうして研究者は論文やプレゼンの作成に集中できる Thanks to them, the scientists can concentrate to creat the paper and the presentation. お昼は学生さんのお宅で天津飯 For lu...

ケニア2日目 The second day in Kenya 研究所が地元の大学と共同研究をしているとのことで This institute is collaborating with the university. 車で1時間移動してチュカ大学へ I followed them to go to Chuka university.   昨日のように見学気分でついていったけど I was supposed to just take a look like yesterday, but 作業が大変そうだったので手伝うことに the work looked so hard and I decided to help them. 今日はカボチャの成長測定 Today's mission was the mesurement of the pumpkins. なんと108個体 God, they have 108 pumpkins to measure. カボチャの測定なんてしたことないけど I've never tried to measure pumpkins, まず生え放題の葉っぱの中からいつも測定している茎を探し出す I helped to look for the stem which they used to follow to measure .   赤いリボンがつけてあるのだがこれを探すのに一苦労 The stem has a red ribbon, but it's so hard to find because of the leaves around. 茎を探す人、葉っぱの光合成量を測定する人、数値を記録する人と分担して進める The person who looks for the stem, the person who measures the photosynthesis, the person who takes notes. 真昼間の作業で日差しが暑かった Under the sun, it was hot. 研究所に帰るはずの13:00に終わりお腹ペコペコ We've...

ケニア1日目 The 1st day in Kenya 1:20AM到着だったので空港で寝る I arrived at 1:20 AM and slept on the bench at the airport. 大学の後輩のケニア人を訪ねにきた I came here to visit my Kenyan friend who studied together in the university. 5:00AMに友達経由で頼んでおいた運転手さんが迎えにきてくれた His friend came to pick me up at 5:00AM, but I was bit curious if he's friend of him. 正しい場所に連れて行ってくれるか不安だったけど2時間後無事にムエアに到着 There is no doubt that he took me to the right place after 2 hours of drive. ちょうど朝ごはんの時間に到着すると I just got his house at breakfast time. 奥さんがパンケーキ朝ごはんで迎えてくれた His wife welcomed me with pancakes. 夫ケニア人、妻アルメニア人、息子ダブル国籍の3人家族家にお世話になりました In this family, there is my friend (Kenyan), his wife (Armenian), and his son who has double nationalities. ここはケニアの農業研究所で住まいも敷地内にあるから安心 His house is in the national agricultural institute and it's safe and comfortable. 朝食後、友人と出勤すると、数か月間の研究滞在している日本人学生さんに出会った My friend and I went to the office and I met two Japanese students who are staying here for th...

ベナン6日目 The 6th day in Benin お別れの挨拶のため村長宅へ行くと To say good-bye, I went to the village chief's house. 5年前は幼かった孫が上手にナタを使えるようになって His grand child was too small to use a chopper 5 years ago. ココナッツをご馳走してくれた This time he picked up one and cut it for me. 中の汁があまり好きではないけど、白い実は美味しくて好き Honestly I don't really like the water inside, but I like the white part. グランポポの家ではWifiが使えないので I didin't have wifi at my house in Grand-Popo, I went to the hotel to use wifi by ordering one juice. グランポポ隊員の特権、ホテルでジュースを頼みWifiを使う作戦 It's a kind of a special privilege  by living in Grand-Popo, which has  nice beach and hotel in Benin. 今の隊員はWifiルーターを契約して家でインターネッとに繋がるらしい Recently, if you have a contract of using wifi router, you can get a connection everywhere. 次の旅程の確認とホテルの予約をしながら 海 を眺めてリラックス I booked some hotels for the next journey and made me relaxed near the ocean.
